The Guildford Institute launches biggest programme to date with new six-month brochure
The Guildford Institute, a charity providing cultural education to the local community and beyond, has launched its first ever six-month brochure. With over 130 activities taking place from April to September, it’s the Institute’s biggest programme to date. There are more opportunities than ever before to learn, get creative, be entertained and more!
The Institute’s packed programme includes over 100 courses ranging from art history and visual arts to genealogy and sciences. There will be 18 afternoon talks to choose from, opportunities to discover new places with 3 coach visits, and 6 special events to enjoy.
For home décor enthusiasts, the Institute is excited to introduce Interior Design to the programme with expert interior designer Debby Thurston. Enjoy an introductory lecture, followed by an insightful 4-week course on residential interior design.
The Fun Soap Laboratory will be running their first workshop at the Institute – Spring Soap Making! Perfect for individuals or groups, join Aga and Kat for a mindful afternoon creating unique soaps.
There are lots of exciting events to look forward to including a Fundraising Quiz Night. Celebrate the 80th anniversary of VE Day with a special tea party; hear music from vintage singer Jen Merchant and creatively share family memories of wartime with Open Access Arts. Weekend Music Nights continue with acoustic guitar player Abi Powell and ‘Loop Pedal Virtuoso’ Matt Keddie. Andertons Music Co. kindly sponsor these events, enabling the Institute to shine a spotlight on talented, local musicians.
For the first time, the Institute will run a series of creative family workshops with artist Chris Holley. Inspired by works of art, bring your children or grandchildren along for these fun afternoon sessions!
Amy Rice, Institute Manager, says: “We’re delighted to provide the community with our biggest programme yet, packed full of opportunities for learning and enjoyment. Look forward to a busy calendar of activities, with the knowledge that every booking supports our charity”.
Guildford-based painter Sarah Cox is the Institute’s brochure cover artist, with her stunning work Breathing Space which is inspired by walking the coastal path near St Just, Cornwall.
The Institute’s programme is generously sponsored by Experience Guildford, Cheyney Goulding and Knight Frank.
The Institute’s programme will run from 3 April to 27 September 2025. Advance booking for all paid Institute activities is essential. View the Institute’s brochure online via www.guildford-institute.org.uk or pick up a copy from the building.
